Engaging communities in marine conservation
When it comes to the conservation of marine environments, the payoffs of those intervention can be difficult to perceive by coastal communities – for example, a fishing ban has long-term benefits far into the future, but imposes costs right here and now. UNDP teams across the planet deploy methods from collective intelligence and participatory design to build interventions that reconcile environmental protection with community prosperity.
